Yoga - A Spiritual Practice

Yoga, a spiritual practice, aims to achieve a harmonious connection between the body and mind. It is a delicate science that encompasses both art and healthy living. 

According to yogic scriptures, yoga signifies the union of individual consciousness or soul with the universal consciousness or spirit. 

The term "yoga" originates from the Sanskrit word 'yuj', which means 'to join', 'to yoke', or 'to unite'. In India, there exists a 5000-year-old knowledge known as yoga. 

Within Hinduism, yoga is considered a philosophical school and is one of the six "stika" schools that acknowledge the vedas as a source of knowledge. 

Yoga is not just about physical exercise, but also encompasses a branch of inner science focused on uniting the body and mind for self-realization. 

The main objective of yoga practice (sadhana) is to free oneself from pain and achieve holistic well-being, happiness, and harmony in all aspects of life. 

While many may think of yoga as primarily physical, involving complex movements and breathing techniques, it is in fact a multifaceted discipline aimed at unlocking the boundless potential of the human mind and spirit.
